How to Make Bingo Cards to Sell as a Printable

Printable bingo shows up everywhere from classrooms to birthday parties to baby showers, which makes it a reliable seller, but only if the cards are actually unique. Two cards that quietly match each other is the single most common complaint on a bad bingo pack.

Here is how to build a set that holds up, whether you are working with words or your own images.

The one thing that has to be right: no duplicate cards

A bingo pack is a set of cards drawn from the same pool of items, shuffled onto each card. If the shuffle is not genuinely random and checked, two cards can end up with the same layout, or close enough that the whole game breaks. That check is the part worth automating, not the part worth skipping.

Text bingo or picture bingo

Text bingo works for older kids and adults: words shuffled into a grid, called out from a list. Picture bingo, where each cell is an image with a caption underneath, works better for pre-readers and themed party games, since the picture itself is the clue.

  1. Pick a theme and gather 12-24 items (words, or images if using picture mode).
  2. Choose your card size: 4x4 is common for younger players, 5x5 for a longer game.
  3. Generate enough cards that no two are identical.
  4. Include a caller list so whoever runs the game can call items in order.
  5. Decide whether to use a free space in the centre.
  6. Personalise in Canva and export.

If you're building picture bingo, caption every image with its word underneath the picture, not instead of it. A picture alone can be ambiguous (is that a rabbit or a hare?), and the caption is what makes the card unambiguous for a caller reading off a list.

Give the caller something to work from

The cards are only half the product. Whoever runs the game needs a caller list: every item in the pool, in a fixed order, so they can call items one at a time and know what's left. Packs that skip this leave the buyer to build their own list by hand.

Common questions

How many bingo cards should be in a pack?

It depends on group size, but most packs include enough unique cards for a full classroom or party (commonly 20-30), each genuinely different from the others.

What is a caller list?

A single-column list of every item in the game's pool, used by whoever is running the game to call items one at a time so players can mark their cards.

Can bingo cards accidentally duplicate?

Yes, if the shuffle isn't checked against every other card already generated. This is the most common quality complaint on bingo packs and worth verifying before you list.

Can I use my own photos for bingo instead of text?

Yes, picture bingo lets you upload your own images and pair each one with a word caption, which works well for pre-readers and themed party games.
